David Joosten grew up in a home surrounded by art. His mom and sister were dedicated painters, while his dad was rummaging around in his darkroom developing photographs. Growing up in such a creative family, it didn’t take long for David to start wielding the camera himself. 

In his work, he loves to go back to the basics of playing with light and shadow. He uses radiance and shimmering light to conjure up elegant images of natural beauty. Images where the elements – air, water, earth, and fire – are almost always represented. Whether David shoots photography or film, he often creates surreal, dream-like scenes for his subjects to dwell in. His work is clean, sophisticated, and made with incredible attention to detail.
